10 Of The Most Beautiful Words In Different Languages

I have always been amazed by phrases in different languages. I believe they show the richness of a language. Below is a collection of a few of my favorite words that I found over a period of years —

Amor Fati (Latin):

Love of one’s fate. It is used to describe an attitude in which one sees everything that happens in one’s life, including suffering and loss, as good or, at the very least, necessary.

Wabi-Sabi (Japanese)

Finding beauty in imperfections.

Saudade (Portuguese)

Saudade is a feeling of longing, melancholy, desire, and nostalgia that is characteristic of the Brazilian or Portuguese temperament. It describes a deep emotional state; a yearning for happiness that has passed, or perhaps never even existed.

Forelsket (Norwegian)

The indescribable euphoric feeling experienced as you begin to fall in love.

Commuovere (Italian)

A heartwarming story that moves you to tears

Petrichor (Greek)

The mild and pleasant smell or scent of earth associated with the first rain after a dry spell

Fernweh (German)

A longing for unseen places even stronger than wanderlust

Elysian (Greek)

Divinely inspired; Peaceful and perfect

Koi no yokan (Japanese)

Premonition of love; The extraordinary sense one has upon first meeting someone that they will one day fall in love

Datsuzoku

An escape from your everyday routine
